Lavoisier Font
[UPDATE: Lavoisier now has bold, italic, and bold-italic versions. I've created a page where you can always get the latest/greatest version: The Lavoisier Page.]
Lavoisier is a free, open source font. Feel free to download it, use it, embed it, tweak it, whatever you want. You can play around with the source file if you have FontLab. If you make a change that you think is valuable, let me know and maybe I’ll incorporate that change into future releases. Meanwhile, I’m distributing it under the SIL Open Font License. Please let me know if you have constructive criticism, or if you use the font to create something cool. Thanks!

This is a very cool font! Thanks a lot for releasing it under the SIL license.
The typeface is awesome, except in one thing: there is a huge difference between italic and oblique – the alternate available there is oblique, not italic! As said Ellen Lupton (http://www.designwritingresearch.org/), naming oblique as italic is a crime.

Well, “crime” is a strong word.
I realize it should be called oblique, but, sadly, the tradition for sans-serif fonts is to call obliques italics. I know, I know,… I’m part of the problem…
Well, who said it were Ellen Lupton, which i personally think she is plenty of reason, and who is me to go against her!
– About this, i did a small research on type history when in college, and noticed some ammount of sans oblique typefaces from known foundries were named italics as well… – and even Adrian Frutiger, a typeface design living legend, also did this huge and sad mistake of naming obliques as italics… and all of this only increases to create a huge mess of assuming a huge mistake as absolute true…
As well, your typeface sources are available as FontLab binary documents (.vfb), and i’m using Fontforge – have we, when saving .otf fonts to .sfd Fontforge format, a quality loss of all typeface information?
I don’t know about opening OTF files in Fontforge. If you try it, please let me know how it goes.
This is indeed a very cool font!!
Great font. Really amazing.
Thanks, Harnish and AJ! I hope you get some good use out of it.
Congrats on the release. Very proud to have this in my personal open source font collection
